Revolutionary War Era Characters
Character 1: (Top Left) Rebel sympathizer. She joined the war effort dressed as a man alongside her childhood sweetheart Character 3 (Top Right). When she believes that Character 3 dies in a skirmish with British soldiers, she leaves the war effort. Character 5 (bottom center) A British general decides to use her families home as a meeting place for the officers. After the hanging of her husband she escapes with the help of Character 3 and the two of them raise her child together in the American wilderness.
Character 2: (Top Center) He is Character 5's younger half brother. He is half English and half Native American. Because his father was a general he manages to become a low ranking officer in the British army. He resents his Native American heritage and when his father passes away, the only person who cared for him, he tries to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. Character 1 finds him and talks him off the edge. She then realizes that he is one of the officers that meets at her home. When his brother makes unwanted advances on character 1, he fakes an engagement to protect her and is forced from the army as a result. Character 1 is the first person to other than his father to see him as a fellow human being. They fall for each other after playing house to fool the other officers. The decide to get married and after the wedding Character 1 has his child. Character 2 is allowed to rejoin the army on the condition that he be an ambassador to a nearby Native tribe. By this time he has become a spy for the rebels. When he is discovered he is arrested and hung as a traitor.
Character 3: (Top Right) He was an orphan who was taken in by character 1's father when he was a child. When they grew up the two of them fell in love. Because he had nothing to his name, Character 1's father rejected his request to marry character 1. He leaves to make a life worthy of character 1 and goes to law school. He leaves school to join the rebel army where he reunites with character 1 who ran away to join the cause. He was thought to have died in battle by was actually captured and taken to a prisoner of war ship until he escapes nearly a year later. When he escapes he rejoins character 1 and helps her escape the British.
Character 4: (Bottom Left) She is character 1's younger sister. She is much more proper than her sister and tends to be a royalist.
Character 5: (Bottom Center) He is a British General. He has a wife back in England but has a string of lovers in America. He hates his half brother for being more loved by their father. He is the one who orders Character 2's execution.
Character 6: He was a child when character 1 bought him at a slave auction. She brought him to her home and gave him his freedom. He stayed at her home and was treated as a younger brother. He bonds with Character 2 over their shared outsider status and this connection is what makes Character 1 begin to trust the British officer.
